Decollage

In 2024, I created a piece on linen that explores the intersection of Japanese paper transfer, collage techniques, acrylic paint, and oil pastels. This work represents a fusion of structured collages and a transition towards a more abstract space, where the figurative elements give way to a sense of openness and imagination. The composition features fragments of faces sourced from advertising wall, intertwined with elements of decollage, where torn and lacerated images from my travels emerge and interact on the surface. The deliberate removal of collages and layers reveals empty spaces on the linen, inviting the viewer to delve into the depths of their imagination and contemplate the hidden narratives within the artwork. Through this exploration of visual reality and abstraction, I aim to create a space that transcends conventional boundaries, allowing the viewer to escape into a realm where the imagination can roam freely. The juxtaposition of textures, colors, and fragmented images serves as a reflection of the sensory experiences and memories gathered from my journeys, offering a glimpse into a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, inviting contemplation and introspection."
